Copper Electroplating
Our dedicated plating team have 90 years' electroplating experience between them. They draw on that experience to satisfy the many challenging requests made by our customers. The electroplating that takes place at East Kilbride tends to be low volume or one-off pieces, as opposed to batch production line work. These components present technical challenges, as they can be intricate, or contain different exotic metal types. Understanding the timings, temperatures, currents and solutions is only half the battle - often the hard part can be knowing how to approach the job and ensuring satisfaction to specification.
Preparation on the plating line could involve light alumiunium oxide blasting, sodium hydroxide cleaning, and nickel etch and strike. This prepares and properly keys the surfaces to be plated. Masking is done using lacquer or tape.
Our Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring that the plating solutions contain the correct chemical balance. This is achieved through a meticulous monitoring and testing process using a third-party laboratory.
The electroplating team have all been fully trained by Enthone.
